With a population exceeding 84 million and consistent annual economic growth in excess

of 7% Vietnam is fast emerging as a priority emerging market, with excellent potential.

In the plastics & rubber processing industries the market is expected to expand rapidly

as domestic businesses grow and inward investment flows accelerate.

• In 2005 Vietnam’s plastics products exports were expected to have reached US$320
• million, with its rubber industry output forecast to approach US$240 million.
• Vietnam’s plastics industry is expected to grow by 18 — 20% per annum through to 2010.

The changes in the investment climate in Vietnam is also encouraging specifiers and

investors to evaluate higher value added production technologies and move away from

price only based purchasing decisions.

With the opening of the Vietnamese economy to both competitors from the ASEAN region

and global operators the market is now following specifying trends of the most dynamic

neighbouring South East Asian countries.

Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2007 will be held alongside the 3rd Propak Vietnam show,

the country’s leading international processing and packaging event. With 40% of Vietnam’s

plastics industry applications relating to packaging there is a strong natural crossover

between the two events.

The most recent Propak Vietnam show was held from 1 — 3 December 2005 and attracted

4189 professional visitors and 137 participating companies.

eparate visitor registration systems will be in place for Propak Vietnam and Plastics & Rubber Vietnam but visitors will be able to visit both events without needing to re-register.
