SHANGHAI – 21st April 2008 — China BevTek 2008, The international beverage and liquid technology & material exhibition, will take place from 9 –11 July 2008 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre ( SNIEC), Pudong. “The rapid expansion of Chinese brewers and particularly beverage producers in the East China region has prompted the launch of China BevTek, the first specialist trade show to focus on the liquid technology sector in Shanghai commented Brendan Jennings, General Manager, China International Exhibitions (CIE) the organisers of China BevTek 2008. He added “the exhibition will showcase liquid processing and packaging technology for China and export markets for industries producing beer, beverage, dairy, sauces, liquid foods, oils and industrial liquids.”
Over the past decade, China has become the world’s largests market for many different beverages. Most famously overtaking Germany as the single largest market for beer in 2006. In 2007, the output of beverages in China reached 2.3 million tons, with consumption forecast to grow by 12% annually over the next 5 year, boosted by major world events including Beijing 2008 Olympics and Shanghai World Expo in 2010. The World Expo alone is estimated will attract over 70 million visitors during the 6 months fair. Increased production at existing plants including international brands of Coca Cola and Pepsi and the addition of many new brewing and beverage operations will create considerable opportunities for suppliers of all liquid processing and packaging technology.
“This is the first year for China BevTek, and we have had an excellent response from both domestic and international technology suppliers” commented Vicky Leung, Assistant Project Director for CIE. “A big attraction for companies to join has been the decision of the Brewing Industry Committee of the China National Food Industry Association to hold their Annual General Meeting alongside China BevTek 2008 on 9-10 July 2008. The Committee’s Board of Director’s includes the senior management from some of China’s top brewers including Yanjing Beer, China Resources Snow Beer, Chingqing Beer, Fujian Yanjing Huiquan Beer, Tsing Tao, InBev, Mautai Beer amongst others. In addition, the Brewing Committee is hosting a technical forum with speakers from industry leaders including Krones, Sidel and the Technology Centre of Tsingtao Brewery Co” commented Miss Leung.
